Super Meat Boy Nintendo Switch Physical Copy

Originally released back in 2011 for mobile devices, League of Evil scratched the Super Meat Boy itch that was absent from the App Store at the time. It was welcomed with praise by critics and on-the-go gamers alike for its addictive gameplay and surprisingly decent on-screen control system despite the lack of a physical gamepad. Nintendo Switch owners looking to get their hands on a Super Meat Boy, we've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the title itself will be available to play this year - the bad news, and really only for those that enjoy having the physical version of a game in-hand, is that the cartridge version will not be available until 2018 ('probably')

The team behind Super Meat Boy took to social media to make the announcement of when fans can finally play the indie title on their Switch platforms.

Though it is not a concrete launch date, it is at least the first time fans are getting a relative window of release. The highly anticipated sequel Super Meat Boy Forever will also be making its way over onto the Switch in 2018, as well:

'Dr. Fetus is being a jerk again (as he does), but this time he's kidnapped Meat Boy and Bandage Girl's adorable little baby girl, named Nugget! Meat Boy and Bandage Girl will be put through the grinder (THAT ISN'T A MEAT JOKE SHUT UP) as they jump, slide, punch and kick through 6 chapters containing randomly constructed levels that increase in difficulty each time you rank them up. Beat a level, it ranks, next time you play it you get a harder version of that level until you eventually master it! There are bosses, secrets, dying, awesome music, beautiful art, and dying! Also if that isn't enough, there is a Dark World with extremely hard levels for those of you that like that sort of thing.'

Physical

Super Meat Boy will be going live on the Nintendo Switch in 2017, with the sequel and physical copies dropping later in 2018. No other information is available at this time, but we'll keep you posted as soon as more indie goodness becomes available.

You may recall a few months ago that the dev team behind Super Meat Boy, Team Meat, confirmed that they were “probably” going to make a physical version of the game for the Switch. Well, the topic had been brought up again on Team Meat’s Twitter, where they said that they are “planning on doing a physical version” of Super Meat Boy on Switch. Previously, they said that the physical version would come in 2018. This time, however, they say that “we don’t have a price or release date”. They were also asked about a physical version of Super Meat Boy Forever on Nintendo Switch. While Team Meat says that they’d “like to do that”, there is no work being done on it at this time. Their priority is getting the game itself done first. We’ve included both tweets down below.

I'd like to do that but there is no work being done on that at this time. Gotta get the game done first.
