Super Meat Boy and Bandage Girl may dash ever onwards at a steady pace in Super Meat Boy Forever, but the’s game development isn’t so simple, and developers Team Meat are delaying it from the planned April launch to when it’s done. Super Meat Boy won't start-Help! I really want to play SMB, but whenever it boots, the game doesn't respond after the gamepad advisory statment. I've tried all the -windowed -resolution -detail tricks, but nothing works.

And it'll be 'ridiculously hard'

The team behind Super Meat Boy Forever have confirmed that they are planning post-launch DLC for the upcoming platformer, and it won't be a walk in the park, either. Then again, that's to be expected with Super Meat Boy, right?

Speaking with DualShockers at PAX East this week, designer Tommy Refenes revealed 'we have some plans for DLC,' and that it will be a 'substantial' effort. What's more, players can expect the game's stages to be made 'ridiculously hard' as a result of whatever Team Meat has in the pipeline. No more info was provided, however.

Not played the original Super Meat Boy? Go and fix that right away.

It’s been a fortnight since the Epic Games Store began offering Subnautica for free. Today, that offer has a replacement; Super Meat Boy is now free to claim until January 10.

Super Meat Boy saw its initial release on the Xbox 360 in October of 2010, followed by a PC release on Steam in November of the same year. It’s certainly not a recent title, but it continues to be popular; it was also featured in the Indie Game: The Movie 2012 documentary film, along with Braid and Fez.

At the moment the game is available on Steam with a 90% discount, but Epic Games Store is offering it at the price of free. Here’s how the latter describes the game:

Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as a boy without skin who needs to save his girlfriend made of bandages from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a top hat and a monocle.

Launch

Here’s the minimum requirements for the game:

  • OS: Microsoft® Windows® XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10
  • Processor: 1.4GHz or faster
  • Memory: 1 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Graphics Card made within the last 4 years (Pixel Shader 3.0, Vertex Shader 3.0). DirectX 9.0c required.
  • Hard Drive: 400 MB
  • Controller Support: Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller or Direct Input compatible controller

It’s worth noting though that Steam includes both macOS and Linux versions of the game, whereas Epic Games Store only has the Windows version on offer. Also, Valve's Steam Input feature should be able to expand controller support further than what the game's developers support.

Epic hasn't announced what it will put on offer for its next giveaway on January 11. If you wish to claim Super Meat Boy, here’s its store page.
